Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), this year’s global event for biotechnology — the BIO International Convention — will take place 22–25 April 2013 at the McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.
The 2013 BIO International Convention is where the global biotech community meets, showcasing and connecting the people, companies, and innovations that help fulfill the promise of biotechnology through healing, fueling, and feeding the world. The convention is expected to draw more than 16,500 industry leaders from 48 states and 65 countries.
Connect with Global Bioprocess Leaders
Partnering is the most efficient and economical way to find new business, promote your product or service, and explore licensing opportunities. In 2012, the BIO International Convention hosted a record-breaking >25,000 partnering meetings in the BIO Exhibition and BIO Business Forum. Exhibitor Booth Partnering was launched in 2012, allowing exhibitors to prequalify companies and leads by requesting and scheduling meetings that will take place in their booth with powerful decision makers. These meetings facilitate strategic relationships for global biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, academic research institutions, and investors from around the world.
Program: Dynamic Discussions and Trends
BIO sets the stage for unparalleled access to industry influencers. Our education program will feature more than 125 sessions in 15 topic areas and address the latest business opportunities and challenges as well as the newest innovations for executives, investors, scientists, and policy leaders.
New to this year’s program will be the Alzheimer’s Forum on Wednesday 24 April 2013. This forum will confront the issues and roadblocks in finding treatments and cures for the disease. Panel discussions will focus on biosciences and future hope, regulatory considerations and challenges, and the societal and economic impact of Alzheimer’s.
Topics worth highlighting include the following:
“Achieving Regulatory Approval and Compliance” will bring attendees up to speed with new laws to help them avoid roadblocks in research and development.
“Biotech Patenting and Tech Transfer“ will make attendees aware of today’s intellectual property issues and help them navigate new partnerships pragmatically.
“Business Development” will offer practical advice that attendees can apply to their own crucial deals.
“Drug Discovery and Development” will help attendees evaluate the health of their company pipelines — and offer ways to improve them.
“Market Access and Commercialization” will provide direct access to policy implementers about what is coming down the pike.
Special Events
The ninth annual Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Boot Camp (Sunday and Monday, 20–21 April 2013) is an intensive, two-day program that walks you through the necessary steps and
gives you the skills to transform technology and invention into a viable company. Develop the insight and energy required for entrepreneurial success as you learn to think strategically in selecting and managing projects, plan for expeditious and cost-effective management, understand the requirements of all involved stakeholders, and oversee essential components of the commercialization process.
In the BioProcess Zone: Now in its seventh year, the BioProcess Theater will once again offer a program designed to highlight advances in biomanufacturing and process technologies. Organized by the staff of BioProcess International magazine, the theater will build on its successful combination of individual presentations and moderated roundtables. Speakers will discuss how cell therapies are coming closer to reaching their market potential, what progress has been made in cell-culture–derived vaccines, the goals of platform purification technologies in development (especially for replacing protein A), further refinement of single-use implementation, and continuing analyses of the impact of biosimilar production on the global bioindustry. Plan to drop by the theater within the exhibit hall’s BioProcess Zone to complement your exhibit-hall experience and increase your networking opportunities!
