As single-use systems (SUS) continue to be incorporated throughout bioprocess manufacturing, a wider range of solutions and flexibility is being requested of the connections currently used in single-use systems. Colder Products Company, the leader in single-use connection technology, has been listening to the trends in the marketplace and has responded by expanding its product offering to incorporate a wider range of connections options for the single-use market.

AseptiQuik® DC is the first all-in-one sterile connection technology to offer both a sterile connection and a sterile disconnection. These connections are made easy by the use of the intuitive three-step CLICK–PULL–TWIST sterile connection followed by the simple one-step disconnection that maintains media sterility within both halves of the connector. With this single connector, manufacturers can now ensure media sterility before, during, and after connection. Some applications include buffer preparation, downstream transfer lines into sterile hold bags, and anywhere a post filter integrity test is required.

AseptiQuik–Steam-Thru® Combination: Integration of the AseptiQuik sterile connector and the Steam-Thru SIP connector is available as an all-in-one connection. Combining these two connection technologies provides manufacturers even greater flexibility for hybrid stainless steel and single-use processing. For example, when a stainless vessel (e.g., a bioreactor) is going through a steam-in-place (SIP) cycle, the Steam-Thru half can be sterilized with the vessel. This allows a wide range of SUS to then be connected to the AseptiQuik half at a later time in accordance with the manufacturer’s desired process.

MPC with 1/8″ Hose Barbs: The MPC quick-connect product line has been expanded to offer hose barbs suitable for smaller flexible tubing with 1/8″ (3.2 mm) ID tubing. The polycarbonate or polysulfone versions can be used in a wide range of applications that require small-flow connections including sampling, tube weld applications, or luer replacement.

MPC/MPX for Sanitary Connections: Polysulfone MPC and MPX quick connections with 3/4″ and 1½″ sanitary terminations will allow further connection options to equipment or single-use systems that feature sanitary fittings. This quick connection can be used with fixed equipment such as bioreactors, mixing vessels, and tangential-flow filtration systems. The connectors can also be integrated with single-use filter capsules to provide easier connectivity to the rest of the single-use system as well as providing more flexibility for post integrity testing of the filters.

MPC/MPX Back-to-Back Body Adapters: The new MPC and MPX body adapters allow end users the flexibility of connecting off-the-shelf single-use systems that may feature identical male coupling connections at the end of their tubing. A version with both MPC body and a larger format MPX body will essentially provide a reducing option for users who need to transition from larger-sized tubing to smaller-sized tubing on two different single-use systems.
